Faith-Based Counseling

Do you long to have your faith understood and included in the counseling process?  Are you struggling to integrate your religious beliefs into the way you live your daily life?  Do you feel misunderstood or shamed by others because of your belief system?

Working with a Compassionate Christ Centered Counselor, you will be given tools to learn to integrate your faith into your daily life. Your therapist will encourage you in your relationship with God and give you tools for growing in virtue.  Your therapist can even teach you ways to share your faith to your loved ones in a way that is palatable for them.

Many of our clients are looking for Christ-centered counseling that can heal the mind and the soul. They want to be able to not only discuss their relationship problems and mental health, but also openly discuss God, the Bible and the power of prayer.

We are not the only counselors who have noticed that people prefer to seek guidance from those who support, rather than challenge or dismiss their faith. In fact, according to a nationwide survey by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), 83% of Americans believe their spirituality and religious beliefs are closely tied to their mental and emotional health. 75% have stated it’s important for them to work with a therapist who integrates their values and beliefs into the counseling process. And more respondents said they would prefer to see a religious counselor (29%) than a psychiatrist (27%), psychologist (17%) or family doctor (13%).

Selecting the Right Faith-Based Counselor:

Just as no two people are alike, no two faith-based counselors are alike either. They will differ on a few different things:

  • How much religious training they have had
  • How much spirituality they incorporate into their practice
  • The populations they serve
  • Their psychological expertise

At Compassionate Christ Centered Counseling, LLC, we are state-licensed mental health professionals and hold at least a master’s degree in either psychology, social work, counseling, or marriage and family counseling. We also identify as Catholic Christians who believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and the Divine Physician of body and soul.

Moreover, although we are Catholic Christians, we welcome clients of a variety of faith traditions, for example Muslims, evangelical or non-denominational Christians, and those of the Jewish tradition.  If you or someone you love is interested in exploring faith-based counseling, please reach out to us.  We would be delighted to discuss how we may be able to help.
