John Melampy, MA, LLPC

I see therapy as a chance for individuals to be given time and space to be heard, to grow, and to find insight, direction, peace, hope and healing. I walk with my clients through their trials so they know they are not alone. I hope to inspire my clients to embark on the adventure that is set before them in their lives.

I work with individuals, couples, teens, young adults, and adults. I especially seek to provide therapy for those who may be seeking a male therapist as well as for those seeking a Catholic/Christian therapist. I have experience working with clients who are struggling with ADHD, depression, anxiety, and trauma.  I also provide career counseling and couple's therapy. I am open to working with various populations within my comfort level, scope of practice and training.

My approach with clients includes first building a strong therapeutic relationship, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existentialist (meaning, purpose and responsibility) and Mindfulness based techniques. I hope to help clients build resilience, find healing and hope so they can flourish. As a faithful Catholic/Christian, I desire to serve the faithful by offering a place where they feel comfortable with a therapist who understands and integrates their faith competently in treatment.

John is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor working under supervision until completion of state requirements. John graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and from the University of Mary with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He earned a Catholic Anthropology training certificate to integrate Psychology, Philosophy and Catholic/Christian Theology to best treat a faith based population. He also has two years of experience serving the Traumatic Brain Injury population.
